Brighton & Hove City Council says dogs are welcome on all beaches from 1 October to 30 April; from 1 May to 30 September, use only designated dog-friendly beaches and check the entrance signs. In nature reserves such as Castle Hill, the council says dogs must be on a fixed two-metre lead from 1 March to 31 July and kept under close control. GOV.UK guidance says to use a lead where required, follow an authorised officer’s direction, and always clear up after your dog.
