How long we keep data

This page explains the retention controls implemented by DogSphere and the operator-approved schedule for other data categories.

Implemented retention controls

These controls are enforced by the service today:

Data category	Retention period	Why
Account-linked recent place views	90 days after the last view	Keeps recent-place history useful without retaining it indefinitely.
Browser-only recent place views	90 days after the last view	Provides the same short-lived browsing convenience without an account.
Place comparison choices	Until you clear them	A saved comparison is a user-selected preference.

Operator-approved schedule

The operator-specific retention schedule has not yet been published for this deployment. It must be approved before public launch; this page intentionally does not invent retention periods for accounts, contributions, backups, or infrastructure logs.

Deletion requests and exceptions

A signed-in account holder can download account data and request account deletion from the account area. Deletion can be limited where content has already been published, a legal obligation applies, a dispute is unresolved, or a security/audit record must be retained. Backups may take additional time to age out under the approved schedule.
